Strategic Advisers, LLC (SA) was founded in 2009, by Patrick Crowley, an award-winning career journalist, and Jay Fossett, a lawyer, former journalist, and city government official. For the first couple years of the firm, SA operated in a tiny little office space directly under the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce provided to them for free by David Heidrich of the Zalla Companies.

After a 2006 legislative session and knowing that Pat Crowley was one of the most influential reporters in the region, Greg Greene sent a Heineken over to Crowley’s table in order to curry favor. Never one to turn down a pint, Crowley and Greene struck up an instant friendship that grew over the next couple of years. In early 2010, Greene, Crowley, and Fosset began to work on community advocacy projects together through the Northern Kentucky Chamber and quickly realized there was a larger business opportunity. In August 2011, Greene left his executive role at Fifth Third Bank to become a full equity partner of SA.

In its first year of operating together, SA tripled its sales and soon began to expand its product offerings and geography. After registering some big wins for organizations like the Kentucky Oil and Gas Association and The Christ Hospital Health Network, SA began to receive regional and national public relations and public affairs engagements. Soon SA was a nationally recognized firm in public relations, public affairs, crisis management, and digital media strategies. In 2021, Fossett left SA to pursue his passion in local city management and became the full-time city administrator of Dayton, Kentucky. Upon Fosset’s departure Shayna Nevermann, a trusted team member since 2011, was promoted to a junior equity partner.

During a long and successful public affairs engagement in Texas, Greene and Crowley had the opportunity to work with Madison Walton-Smith -- a digital marketing pioneer and expert on digital targeting techniques, SEO, social media, e-commerce, google suite, and website design. Looking to expand its expertise, SA invited Smith to become a full equity partner and lead its digital marketing and communications business.

Today, Strategic Advisers is comprehensive communications and marketing firm serving clients across the United States and Canada with locations in both Cincinnati, Ohio, and Greenville, South Carolina.
